All it takes is one great idea. 25 years ago, Winegrapes Australia nailed it.
In 1992, a small group of grape growers in McLaren Vale decided to pool resources and sell their grapes as a group, rather than as sole operators.
It was simple, but genius. This power of numbers made them unstoppable, combining an ever-expanding network of contacts with an epic conglomeration of experience and knowledge.
The business flourished. These days they are one of the biggest suppliers of South Australian grapes to the winemaking industry, renowned for delivering the best produce, sniffing out solutions and making the impossible happen. They’ve also now expanded into making and selling custom wine to order, which is set to go gangbusters.
So with such a top idea and market dominance, why did they need us? Well, as with many industries, they got in the habit delivering an insular message, of talking to themselves rather than directly to their clients and future customers. They knew if they wanted to stay at the head of the field, to remain the top dog, they couldn’t just coast along on their industry success. There’s always a competitor nipping at your heels and they knew they needed to evolve, adapt and refresh.
It didn’t take long for the crew at Winegrapes to evolve into quality design thinkers, and the result from our collaboration has been a thrill for us all. A brand that was lacking strategy and needed revitalisation got a beautiful makeover and is now at its booming best. This is the stuff that drives us out of bed in the morning.
