Disruptive Drinks Branding

When the Devil Meets Disruptive Drinks Branding.

Revered Russian-American winemaker André Tchelistcheff wasn’t lying when he said, “God made Cabernet, but the Devil made Pinot.”

The most delicate and expressive of the reds is also the moodiest, ripening, sulking and withering on the vine at lightning pace. It can test the patience, fray the nerves, damage the ego and king-hit the spirit of even the most seasoned Winemaker.

As drinks design specialists, when we meet a Pinot producer, we take our hats off and give a minute’s silence. We know we are standing before a person of great grit and tenacity.

Enter Jack “The Ripper” Tomich. A boundary-pushing, third gen winemaker from Onkaparinga Valley of the Adelaide Hills, Jack has veered from his family’s traditional style of winemaking with his own trailblazing project.

Aptly named Devil Made Pinot, Jack wanted to create a disruptor to the normally restrained Pinot category. We were happy to oblige with a range of distinctive brand assets and specialist wine labels designed to seriously own the shelf.

Injecting maximum personality, character and fun, we chose a punchy colour palette and created four memorable illustrations showcasing the Devil in full winemaking glory, which are used across all ranges.

World’s best wine label? That’s to be debated, but we’re devilishly happy with the result.
